### License Content Calendar Directly

The digital product that still earns me money every month is a content calendar template I originally built for my own planning, not to sell. I licensed it to a marketing agency for £150 a month, and it's brought in over £3,600 so far for zero extra work since the first conversation. I didn't market it to a wide audience at all, I pitched it directly to one agency I already knew needed it.

### Demonstrate Notion System Across Channels

The digital product that keeps earning alongside my client work is a $19 Notion template pack for freelancers, covering a client CRM, project tracker, and monthly income dashboard. I built it after noticing that three different clients had asked how I stayed organized, and I spent about 20 hours turning my own workspace into something others could duplicate. I marketed it through the work itself. I recorded a two-minute screen walkthrough of the dashboard and posted it on LinkedIn and short-video platforms, then added a free single-page version as a lead magnet. I also listed the pack on a template marketplace, which brought in steady organic traffic. Over 13 months, it sold 1,150 copies for about $21,800 in revenue, with a refund rate under 2%. The marketplace drove 48% of sales, my video content 31%, and email followers the rest. Upkeep takes roughly 3 hours a month. The lesson: turn the system you already run for yourself into a product, and let a short demo do the selling.

### Monetize Repeat Consulting Questions

The digital product that keeps paying me was built out of the questions I was already answering for free. Every consulting call had the same three or four bottlenecks coming up, and I was explaining the same sequence over and over. So I recorded that sequence once, cleaned it up, and sold it as a self-serve version of the advice people were paying me hourly for.

I didn't build a course and then go hunt for an audience. I built it for the people already asking, so the marketing was mostly me continuing to answer questions in public and pointing to a deeper version at the end. Blog posts, videos, and emails that each solved one narrow problem and mentioned the product once.

I don't productize anything now until I've been asked about it at least a dozen times by people who paid me. If the question isn't recurring, I end up buying traffic to prop the product up.

The side effect I didn't plan for is that the product became my best lead source for service work. People buy the cheap thing, get a result, then hire me for the custom version.

### Distribute Affordability Planner by Referral

1\. Home affordability planner: a simple spreadsheet with a short guide that outlines the various costs of home ownership (e.g. loan limits, stamp duties, cash vs. CPF portion, etc.) and helps first-time home buyers estimate how much they can afford on a monthly basis (as opposed to how much a bank can lend them). When I'm out showing properties to real estate clients, the first viewing of a property is rarely about the property itself. Most couples viewing properties are consumed with fear of some sort. They bring their calculators to showflats and start adding up the numbers. I've managed to package the conversation I've been having with them and turned it into a simple spreadsheet that they can open up at home and start calculating in no time. It's been priced very low to make it very easy for people to say yes. People pay for all sorts of things, but what people really pay for is permission to feel ready.

2\. I have marketed it through people rather than through platforms. I have given it for free to past clients and asked them one favour: to pass it on to someone who is just starting to look. People trust the recommendation of a colleague who has just bought a property far more than they trust an advertisement by an estate agent. I therefore held a few evening talks with a mortgage banker and handed out the Home Affordability Planner as the main takeaway from each talk. I have also been sharing stories of couples who have discovered that they can actually afford more or even less than they thought they could afford in various WhatsApp groups. For any freelancer, the best form of marketing is from happy clients who can pass your product on to their friends. Such referrals are so much more powerful than any form of advertising.

### Showcase Onboarding Toolkit Everywhere

One digital product I created is an onboarding starter pack compiled as a Notion template and sold through Gumroad for $49. I marketed it with a LinkedIn post that explained the system, detailed real use cases, and outlined the benefits for clients. I also added the Gumroad link to my email signature and listed the product on my portfolio site to capture ongoing interest. After regular updates over the year, the pack now brings in about $300 per month without repeated revisions or follow-up work.

### Transform Automation Expertise Into Software

The best way to scale a service-based business is to turn the repetitive tasks that your employees have learnt during consulting engagements into products. In our transition from being a small developer to becoming a global technology company, the biggest breakthrough happened when we stopped viewing document automation as a custom task and proceeded to create our own software for e-signature and document management. This product enabled us to sell our solution to clients who were looking for a particular outcome, secure being the most important in this digital age without having to resort to a full-blown engineering project every single time. It now serves us as a steady source of revenue which does not depend on our billable hours.

To sell this item, we changed our perception of the process. We had to switch from sales-focused growth to content-driven growth. Since we knew the exact compliance obstacles our enterprise customers faced, we built an SEO strategy around the specifics of regulatory issues faced by our clients rather than around common industry keywords. We produced insightful materials on document security, workflow integration, etc., which clearly demonstrated the efficiency of our product in solving the problems we had already tackled in our consulting engagements. By focusing on regulatory issues that we had encountered in our service work, we managed to attract the right audience, i.e. those in need of a solution who could benefit from the advice of a practicing expert in the field.

There is a good piece of advice one can give to those who want to go digital with their services which is to analyze your out-of-scope requests. If customers regularly ask you for a modified version of the complex service you provide, then this is your product roadmap. Marketing works when you stop trying to reach everyone at once.

### Promote Techwear Guide to Loyal Fans

I created a paid digital lookbook and capsule-styling guide for techwear and cyberpunk wardrobes that continues to sell alongside our product range. It packages outfit formulas, care tips and sourcing notes--useful for customers who want to build a functional, futuristic wardrobe without trial-and-error.

We marketed it directly to our existing audience: promoted on product pages and in transactional emails, featured in short styling reels on social channels, offered as a low-cost add-on at checkout, and amplified through collaborations with niche influencers and community groups interested in techwear and alternative fashion.

### Teach Intake Skills Via Mini-Course

The digital product that keeps earning alongside my client work is a $49 video course, "Client Onboarding in a Day," a 90-minute walkthrough of the exact intake, kickoff, and communication system I use with new clients. I recorded it over two evenings after realizing I answered the same questions from other freelancers every week. I marketed it by answering those questions publicly. I posted a short breakdown of one onboarding mistake each week, ending with a link to the course, and sent a free checklist to my email list as a teaser. I also added a $15 launch discount for the first 50 buyers. Over 12 months, the course sold 340 copies for about $15,500 in revenue, and refunds stayed under 3%. Upkeep takes roughly 2 hours a month, mostly answering buyer questions. The lesson: turn your most repeated question into a product, and market it by answering that question in public.

### Publish Startup Journey as Ebook

One digital product I created is an e-book produced as part of my public 100-day startup project. My team turned a short video into the e-book using AI tools and simple design software, keeping production costs low. I marketed it by publishing the 100-day process publicly to generate consistent content and then repurposing that content across formats. We also used signal-based content routing to deliver the right asset to the right audience at the right moment.
