Perform on the Bus
A unique thing I did was when I had to perform for a company while we were on the bus to a destination. This was especially unique because I use a guitar in my act, and I essentially was using a megaphone so the entire bus could hear me. While presentation is a part of it, I always recommend learning all the ins-and-outs of the company, specifically the individuals, because I prefer to talk about people and not entities. I would never show up to a gig blind to the audience.
Comedy Hypnosis at Spy Agency
My most unique corporate gig ever?
I did my comedy hypnosis show at the headquarters of a top-secret spy agency most Americans have never heard of, have no idea what they do, and even have a hard time spelling: the National Reconnaissance Office.
Security at this facility was super tight. They put their dog in my car, on top of the engine block, and in the trunk before I could drive in. One challenge was I was not allowed to have any electronic equipment.
So that meant I had to use their microphones and had to do my sound cues by hand signal to an NRO staffer.
A question I ask all my bookers is, "Hey, are there any content areas I need to make sure I stay away from?" She says, "You can't talk or do anything about our work."
I think for a minute, realize that what they do is really super secret, but hey, I sometimes listen to Joe Rogan and know what is usually in my show, "Look, I don't know everything that you guys do. So I've gotta ask, is it okay if my closing bit is one where I have one hypnotized volunteer thinking they're a Martian who only speaks Martian and another volunteer who is SpaceX's Martian translator?"
She bursts out laughing. I'll call you later this afternoon. She calls me back and tells me to go for it.
There are countless situations where, as an entertainer, I get curveballs thrown at me. My approach to handling all of these regardless is to make sure I am the easiest person they have ever had to work with. My job is to give these people a great show. It isn't to show off how much of an egotistical diva I am. That version of my show I save for my wife.
Hairpiece Mishap in Guatemala
I was presenting at a leadership training in Guatemala, and I was wearing a hairpiece. I flipped my head around, and the hair went flying. The participants thought it was a rat running across the room. (Embarrassing!) Anyhoo—this broke the ice, so to speak, and the rest of the conference was spent laughing, connecting, and loving. It turned out to be just wonderful for everyone once we 'let down our hair'! LOL
Engage Senses with Culinary Experiences
Interactive culinary experiences engage all senses. These events often include cooking demonstrations where participants can join in and learn new recipes. The process of cooking and tasting different dishes makes the event memorable and fun.
By involving the audience in the culinary creations, every individual feels a part of the experience. Hosting such activities ensures everyone leaves with a newfound skill or taste. Plan your next corporate event with a culinary twist to engage and entertain your guests.
Teamwork in Immersive Escape Rooms
Immersive escape rooms foster teamwork and problem-solving. These activities require participants to work together to solve puzzles and mysteries within a set time. Participants practice critical thinking and improve their communication skills.
Such experiences encourage collaboration and trust among coworkers. They provide a unique and challenging way to bond outside the usual work setting. Consider an escape room for an engaging and team-building corporate event.
Create Live Art at Events
Live art creation adds a personalized and unique touch to any event. Having an artist create a piece in real-time can captivate and inspire attendees. It allows guests to witness the evolution of the artwork and even influence its direction.
This form of entertainment blends creativity with interaction, making it a centerpiece of the event. A final artwork, which holds memories of the day, can then be displayed in the office. Make your corporate event memorable by incorporating live art creation that engages your employees.
Incorporate VR for Wow Factor
Tech-infused entertainment, like VR, provides a wow factor. Virtual reality experiences transport participants to different worlds and scenarios, offering excitement and novelty. Such interactive technology can be customized to align with corporate themes and goals.
VR experiences can be both entertaining and educational, fostering a sense of innovation. This tech-forward approach showcases cutting-edge trends and engages attendees in a modern way. Embrace technology at your next corporate event for an unforgettable experience.
Tailor Musical Performances to Culture
Musical performances tailored to company culture create lasting memories. A performance that resonates with the company’s values and interests can boost morale and unity. Music has the power to stir emotions and bring people together.
It can be a soothing background or a lively centerpiece of the event, depending on the chosen genre. Investing in musicians who can align their set with the company's identity ensures a meaningful and enjoyable experience. Plan a musical performance that reflects your corporate culture to enhance connection among your team.
